On Friendship Day


I'm a sentimental person..I love sentimental quotes and enjoy reading quotes like "Friends are forever.. To love and to be loved is the greatest treasure".. To my chagrin the first post I saw today was a forward which went like "because dosti chocolatey hi nahin, crunchy bhi hoti hai"..And I was like "What???? Kuch bhi???" I'm not sure if that was an advertisement for chocolate or potato chips.. Anyway I'm guessing the forward meant that friendship is not always fun and happy.. It can get challenging at times.. Or maybe it means that friends are not always mature and understanding.. They can also be fun and wild at times.. Anyway today I'm taking the time to talk about the different kinds of friends we have in life..


So here goes:

THE CHILDHOOD FRIEND:

These are our first friends in life.. And they make childhood such a memorable time and thinking about them always makes you feel happy.. I'm not in touch with any of my childhood friends but thinking about them brings back so many happy memories.. Its just a beautiful feeling.. :-)

THE ACQUAINTANCES/POTENTIAL CLOSE FRIENDS:

These are good people.. Nice to meet.. Understanding, mature, fun loving.. A mix of the best qualities one would want in a friend.. But takes a lot of effort to cultivate these friends.. Being at different locations with different work schedules it's difficult to nurture these relationships and that's why they remain somewhere between acquaintances and potential close friends..


THE PARTY PEOPLE/THE NO STRINGS ATTACHED FRIENDS:

This is the most fun and happening group of friends.. And it's where you let your hair down and party like there's no tomorrow.. And you can also 'be yourself' with this group.. No one takes offence to what the others say.. It's just a cool gang to chill out with.. The downside? Well, no one cares about your feelings so you can't tell someone in this group that you felt bad about something without having them laugh their guts out.. There's no room for 'feelings' in this group.. For that we have the next set of friends..

THE HOME TEAM:

Also called the 'best friends'.. They are the real deal.. No matter who else comes in your life you will always feel the need to go back to your 'home team'.. The one that will never let you down.. These are also the people that bring out the best AND the worst in you.. You want to be a better person because you admire these friends.. These friends make you feel loved and appreciated despite the merciless teasing and the mean sarcastic comments.. Conversely this same group of friends can also get you so angry that you want to strangle them.. These are the people you sometimes, in a fit of rage, unfriend on social media.. As someone wisely said, "It isn't true love unless you have blocked/been blocked on social media".. (My apologies to my home team for blocking you on social media sometimes.. You know I love you :-P)


Taking this opportunity today to thank all my friends.. To those who're no longer in my life I'd say, Thank you for stopping by.. You are fondly remembered.. To my new friends.. Welcome into my world.. Let's make happy beautiful memories..

Today would've been Mummy's 64th birthday had she been here with us.. However like she said, it's always the best people that get called to heaven early on.. Types of friends we all have.. (A friendship day special post)

First of all, a very happy Friendship day to all of you.. I think you have read enough quotes and seen enough reels depicting the importance of friends/friendship in our lives so I won't give you any more 'gyan' on the subject.. But the occasion calls for a customary blog post so I decided to pen down a few thoughts.. I've come a long way from being that naive girl who believed that 'Friendship is forever'.. RAAZ PICHLE JANAM KA

A popular channel is telecasting a prog wherein a person is helped, to find out the reason for his/her problems by going into his/her past life through hypnosis. i was told about the concept of the programme by a colleague. even though i hadnt watched the programme just the description of the programme sent shivers down my spine.. although when i actually watched the programme i was bitterly disappointed. the programme was exactly how she described.. the person being taken back into his past to try and locate that particular instant in his life that left a lasting impact on the person..
