Happy New Year???? Really???

I can't really decide which movie was more "bokwas".. Chennai Express or Happy New Year.. Of course you have to keep your expectations really low when you go to watch a Farah Khan movie.. It's just going to be mindless cinema, so if you're looking to watch something sensible you'd be better off watching Vishal Bharadwaj's "Haider".. We missed the first 20 minutes of the movie thanks to no parking space at the mall.. After watching the movie I thought we were lucky to get away with 20 less minutes of boredom.. Farah Khan tries to do an "Ocean's Eleven".. But sadly none of the actors (not even SRK) of "Happy New Year" have the panache of the cast from "Ocean's Eleven".. It's a bad comedy movie, if you can call it that.. The jokes fall flat.. I heard a lot of people laughing during the movie.. It left me wondering whether they were watching the same movie as me.. Save for a few good jokes the movie was totally missing the humour quotient.. You can either make a thriller/suspense or you can make a comedy.. when you try to mix these two it spoils the dish and in this case leaves the audience with a not so pleasant after taste..

Spoiler's alert! For those who would still wanna go and watch this movie read no further.. ;-) So the movie's about a gang of guys planning to steal some diamonds.. They're not con men.. they're just a bunch of 'losers' brought together by SRK to avenge the death of his father by stealing the diamonds.. I just finished reading a book about a couple who're con artists and who go around the world stealing priceless items.. The book describes in detail the effort that goes into planning a heist.. Happy New Year makes planning a a con job look like a piece of cake.. With the actors bursting into a song dance routine at the drop of a hat.. There is nothing original about the movie.. Deepika seems to be hungover with the Chennai Express effect and still has her "bokwas" accent during the movie.. You can't keep getting away with the bad accent in every movie you do and expect us to lap it up Ms Padukone.. Anyway, it is SRKs movie all the way with the other actors just as 'extras'.. The movie has its nice moments.. but lacks the charm. And the feel good factor of Farah Khan's earlier movies like "Main Hoon Na" and "Om Shanthi Om"

It's a movie only for die hard SRK fans.. Quoting from the movie "Life me do tarah keep log hote hain- "Winners" aur "Losers".. Feel like a 'loser' after watching this movie.. Looking forward to Amir Khan's "PK".. ;-)
