Half girlfriend???


It's probably one of the most ridiculous titles you'll ever hear for a book, but that hasn't stopped readers (Yours truly included)from rushing to the bookstores to lay their hands on a copy of latest Chetan Bhagat novel.. I had to visit the book store twice since copies were sold out the first time I went to buy this book.. Guess that makes Chetan Bhagat the undisputed king of paperback.. With this book he seems to have got his Midas touch back.. copies of "Half Girlfriend" are selling like hot cakes.. and this book probably will be adapted as screenplay for a hindi movie and Bhagat will receive potloads of money as he hands over rights of the book to the movie makers.. Of course there'll be a controversy just before the release of that movie.. you know,pre movie release promotion tactics.. And the movie will join the likes of Chennai Express and Dhoom3 in the 100 crore club.. And Chetan Bhagat will live happily ever after.. ;-)

Coming to the book I feel it's been written by Bhagat keeping in mind the future prospects of turning it into a film.. The story line is a typical mushy romance.. Boy meets girl... They become friends.. boy falls for girl.. boy expresses his love for girl but girl just wants to stay friends.. but boy wants more.. They depart to meet again.. and depart to meet yet again.. I liked the book.. It was quick reading..It's Just that Bhagat seems to be a sensible writer.. he's acquired cult status in our country and is one of the most widely read authors.. Wish he wrote something more serious that could really make a difference in the lives of so many of us who idolise him.. It's how I was disappointed when Amir Khan after working in thought provoking and heart touching movies like Taare Zameen Par goes on to do make a Dhoom3.. Makes you feel so disappointed.. Like someone rightly said "It's all about the money, honey"..

A quick review then.. The book is good in parts.. The language is simple the story line is interesting.. Not as good as his earlier books like "Five point someone" or "2 states".. But definitely a much better read than his last book "Revolution 2020".. So if you get bored of listening to music on your commute grab a copy of this book.. its very light reading. And for the movie enthusiasts I'm sure you won't be disappointed.. This movie will probably have SRK as the guy from Bihar romancing the Delhi girl Deepika Padukone.. ;-) And will make 500 crores breaking all box office records ;-) ;-)

I think you have read enough quotes and seen enough reels depicting the importance of friends/friendship in our lives so I won't give you any more 'gyan' on the subject.. RAAZ PICHLE JANAM KA

A popular channel is telecasting a prog wherein a person is helped, to find out the reason for his/her problems by going into his/her past life through hypnosis. i was told about the concept of the programme by a colleague. even though i hadnt watched the programme just the description of the programme sent shivers down my spine.. although when i actually watched the programme i was bitterly disappointed. the programme was exactly how she described.. the person being taken back into his past to try and locate that particular instant in his life that left a lasting impact on the person..
