Gimme 4 more shots please!!!
This is my take/review on the Season 2 of the web series "Four more shots please!"
So like I've said in an earlier post, the cardinal rule while watching a blockbuster movie or in this case, a "fabulous" season of a web series, is that you need to leave your brains behind and also accept the fact that all logic goes for a toss.. Well, I loved the first season of this series and so I watched Season 2 as soon as it was released and enjoyed it thoroughly.. To my surprise I read a lot of negative reviews about the series.. See, I get why people are miffed.. Can you imagine a group of friends who have not been on talking terms for months together just drop everything and decide to take a trip to Istanbul? So when I saw this scene I rolled my eyes and said "Yeah right, they're flying off to Istanbul and here my friends don't even want to visit me in Hassan.. Yeah so that and a few other things make you wonder if you should be putting your time to better use instead of watching this series..
Like I wanna know how Damini managed to write her book in a couple of days.. I know for a fact that writing a book requires months- if not years of research.. And writers usually submit many drafts before the final manuscript is ready.. but here Damini had her manuscript ready in a matter of days.. it was like making 2 minute noodles.. No wonder she couldn't sell many copies..
Then we have some horrible acting by Samara(if you can call it that!) Lisa Ray as "Samara" was a big disappointment.. Everytime she came on screen it made me laugh.. even the scenes that were supposedly "emotional".. I feel that a mannequin can act better than her.. (Yes I'm being sarcastic!) I hope she isn't there in Season 3.. if she is, I will just fast forward her scenes..
Then we have the ever indulgent mother of Siddhi who pays for her Europe trip.. This is something I couldn't digest.. See, I'm a mom and I love my daughter to bits.. And she's my only child.. But I draw the line at meeting her basic needs and giving her a good education.. I will not allow her to splurge my hard earned money on a Europe trip.. that and all her other "luxuries" are things that she will have to fund herself.. Well, I guess I won't be getting "Mom of the Year" award ever!
So while there are so many things that are beyond logical reasoning, this series is still worth watching.. For me it brought back great memories of fun times spent with a group of friends..
So all those people cribbing about it being a fickle series having no substance and totally being out of touch with "reality".. Well if you want "reality" you can catch up on some episodes of "Crime Patrol" or "Saavdhan India".. That should be "real" enough for you guys..
As for me, I spent some time wondering which of the series character I best fit.. So a friend answered that for me.. according to her I'm an "Anjana".. I asked her why and this is what she said.. I'm reproducing her reply verbatim because I can't write as well as her.. (heh heh heh)
I'm similar to Anjana in that "she dawns multiple cloaks and does so effortlessly.. Whether it is her role as a nurturer or doing well at work, she's got it all sorted.. While she is super sorted on one level, she is constantly fighting a battle with herself and struggles with closure.. She is feisty, goal-oriented and just a tad bit naive.. She chooses to see the best in the people she cares about and that doesn't always work out too well for her".. This is the best and most flattering description of myself I've ever heard..
So what do you think? ;-)
Genuine review. I can relate to this.
