On Valentine's day..
I'm not exactly the 'romantic' types.. Don't get me wrong.. I do care about the people in my life.. Just that I don't need a 'day' to tell them that I love them.. They're supposed to see it in the things I do for them.. And my memories of Valentine's day are limited to checking out what colored clothes classmates/college mates were dressed in on that day.. Because apparently each colour signified a meaning.. So while I would stick to 'safe' colours like yellow or white, I wouldn't waste an opportunity to bug an unsuspecting classmate who was dressed in red or pink signifying they're in a relationship or interested to be in one.. Talk about cheap thrills! (heh heh heh)
So today when I found my fb wall and WhatsApp filled with Valentine day messages I was very tempted to put up a sarcastic message.. I resisted the urge because I didn't want people to think it was case of sour grapes.. So while I don't get the significance of today, I'll still flow with the tide and take this opportunity to wish all the people in my life a very happy Valentine's day.. You are loved and valued a lot.. May you be blessed with all the love and happiness that you bring to me..
For all the single ladies out there and also the bachelors and to all those people who don't believe in Valentine's day for reasons best known to them and also to those who're feeling lonely, take this test.. If you get even a handful of people who say 'yes', should you ask them the following question it IS definitely a Happy Valentine's day.. "If I showed you my flaws, if I couldn't be strong.. Tell me honestly, would you still love me the same?"
