On Teacher's Day


The first person that comes to my mind when I hear the word 'teacher', is my mother.. For all of us, our mothers are our first teachers.. They are the ones that teach us everything.. They are the ones who are there with us.. Always.. For as long as I can remember my mom was the most important person in my life.. She was my first friend.. My playmate.. She then was promoted to being my confidante.. I have been lucky to have someone as open minded as her for a mother, since I could tell her absolutely anything.. I mean 'anything'.. So while the general assumption is that girls are closer to their fathers, for me my mum has been my source of strength for as long as I can remember..

Incidentally, my mother also happens to be a teacher.. And a popular one.. I know for a fact that scores of her students and their parents hold her in high esteem.. She is that good.. And today I'm just at a loss for words and I can't articulate how I actually feel..

whatever I am today I owe it to my mother.. She's taught me honesty.. And sincerity.. And determination.. She told me to believe that hard work always pays.. And she's taught me to believe in myself.. She's one of the best teachers I know.. And one of those few teachers I know who takes pride in her profession.. For her it is a calling.. To be able to teach and mould so many students.. And she does her job with utmost sincerity and dedication.. On this day I can only bow my head in gratitude to her for having been with me throughout.. And for having believed in my ability when I myself doubted it.. I will forever be indebted to u Mummy.. And I hope to make you proud.. A happy teacher's day to u..

I would also like to say a big thank you to all my teachers through school and college.. Some of you who became my friends.. I'm grateful to you for having given me your guidance and support that have helped me.. To my classmates who're in the teaching profession.. My salute to you.. Teachers are by far the most overworked and underpaid professionals.. But for someone to still get into that profession.. Its definitely a big deal.. Hats off to you guys..

Finally a word of appreciation also goes out to all my colleagues who I've had the opportunity to work with so far.. Each of you has taught me something or the other.. And like my mom always says 'anything we learn is never a waste'.. Thank u for teaching me.. I hope to learn a lot from you in the years to come..

Happy Birthday Mummy :-)

Today would've been Mummy's 64th birthday had she been here with us.. However like she said, it's always the best people that get called to heaven early on.. Types of friends we all have.. (A friendship day special post)

First of all, a very happy Friendship day to all of you.. I think you have read enough quotes and seen enough reels depicting the importance of friends/friendship in our lives so I won't give you any more 'gyan' on the subject.. But the occasion calls for a customary blog post so I decided to pen down a few thoughts.. I've come a long way from being that naive girl who believed that 'Friendship is forever'.. "Friends forever" is something I scoff at now.. that's probably the cynic in me speaking.. RAAZ PICHLE JANAM KA

A popular channel is telecasting a prog wherein a person is helped, to find out the reason for his/her problems by going into his/her past life through hypnosis. i was told about the concept of the programme by a colleague. even though i hadnt watched the programme just the description of the programme sent shivers down my spine.. although when i actually watched the programme i was bitterly disappointed. the programme was exactly how she described.. the person being taken back into his past to try and locate that particular instant in his life that left a lasting impact on the person.. The plot till here is ok.. but i just dont seem to understand how an incident can have a lasting impact so deep that it penetrates through the future births of the person too.. a little over the top i should say..
